Laterly, nameboard (BR enamel?) moved to ends over windows flush with front and operating floor door replaced with non-standard (ex-type 2?) door. 2. 32 lever MR tumbler - Newman. 3. Front, 46 lever MR tappet - Swift. No spares on Hinson1 and 5 spare on Hinson2. Locking room door on end under steps flush with rear. Steel steps (20) facing traffic. BR enamel nameboard over ends flush with roof (i.e. extends past upright of box!). Non-standard (Type 2) door. Front. 30 levers (A1, A-D, 1-25) . Located about 5m S of under-bridge. Relief signalman JPTaylor on duty at 0815 01JAN1969 when Up tanker train caught fire in Wingfield Tunnel (MoT). GTaylor, WStone, WAFJ Heel - NUR1930. Wilf Boden c. 1940? Site recently cleared of undergrowth but no trace of sb.

Signalman G.Waller on duty on morning of 01JAN69 when Up tanker train caught fire in Wingfield tunnel (MoT). 22SEP1968 - Crossover recovered and up and down mains plain lined (up sidings already oou). Replaced by g.f. operating emergency crossover until 01FEB1987. G.f. still in situ but out of use - 1998. Buts right up to road bridge and front is flush wth parapet.
