Miss Audrey Inger (later Swift) worked box from 1949 until 1956, as did Mrs Jessie Pynagar (1960 - 1964) and Mrs Elsie Bull. - Higginson Large pile of bricks (stamped 'KILBURN' with N reversed) in dense undergrowth. Odd piece of timber also. Level crossing gate posts and fallen remains of Up Home signal post.

Two trailing sidings on S (Dn) side. Sdgs linked to Dn Mn only. No crossover. Worked by staff from Mickleover stn at first then Etwall. Etwall Gas Sidings was not authorised until 30.9.1880 so it was done very quickly if opened October 1880 but possible. I think it unlikely this and Etwall Ballast Sidings coexisted. - Newman. Contract for signalling let to Saxby & Farmer September 1880 at cost of £249 6s 4d - GN Sigs. Still listed in LNW1911, albeit as "Closed".

Garden of adjacent houses extended up onto formation. No sign of sb.

Brickwork and shell of frame still intact. Most of roof and woodwork destroyed by fire in 1980's.

{c.1900 GN(EM)3 per Heanor Local History Society} Passing loop with trailing siding on W (Dn) side. On 24th June 1904 the branch was divided into two section, Nutbrook Jn to Marlpool and Marlpool to Heanor. Nutbrook Jn held a circular shaped staff lettered "Nutbrook to Marlpool" on one side and "Marlpool to Nutbrook" on the reverse. Nutbrook Jn also held tickets which were white, printed “Down Nutbrook to Marlpool” and red “Up Marlpool to Nutbrook”. On the closing of Marlpool signal box the original crescent shaped staff was used.


Trackbed now a walkway. Site of sb not discernable. Few bricks from platform.
